I lost my uncle Tony to Covid in the early stages of the pandemic in April 2020. It was very challenging as me and my family all knew he was ill alone in hospital with Covid but none of us were able to visit him there or care for him. He had always supported us all our lives and now he was ill with Covid we could not support him as he passed away.
It was especially painful not being able to attend his funeral or visit my family as we collectively grieved independently in our own homes during the lockdown.
Losing him so early into the pandemic really affected my experiences of the lockdown.
He was always a private person and would have hated the idea of a public testimonial. However it is important to me that I acknowledge his passing due to Covid and show my respects for him. He was a great person.
